Why Choose Me
Thank you for taking the time to consider me as your pregnancy, birth and postnatal coach.
Every single family I have looked after over the years takes a place in my heart, and I have learnt so much from each one too. As of the start of my business, I have personally delivered 34 beautiful babies safely into this world, and have supported many others to be brought into the world.
The families that are kind enough to allow me to support them will be getting not only my unique expertise and experience, but also my unwavering dedication and compassion for body autonomy, informed choice, and achieving positive experiences of pregnancy, birth, and beyond. I am happy to answer any questions that you might have regarding myself or my services, and always offer a complimentary initial consultation with families before confirming any support. I look forward to meeting you and your family, and it would be my absolute privilege to support you through this time, in any way that you need.
My Experience
It is really important that you feel a positive connection with whoever joins you on this journey, and choosing the right person is a really big decision. I suggest you explore all of the options in your area to make sure you find the right fit for you.
I decided to train as a midwife after giving birth to my daughter. I suffered terribly from postnatal depression, and felt that my experience could and should have been massively different. I found a fire within myself to do everything in my power to make things better for women and families.
I trained as a Midwife at The University of York, with placement at Harrogate District Foundation Trust, The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton, and James Cook in Middlesbrough. Throughout my 4.5-year journey to becoming a Midwife, it became clear that the NHS is struggling. We are lucky to live in a country in which medical care is accessible to all, and Maternity Services in our area deliver a very high standard of medical care. But quality maternity care is more than medical. It is vastly researched and evidenced that quality emotional support for women and families during this lifechanging period is essential to the long term health and wellbeing of the whole family. A midwife once told me that this kind of care comes from continuity of emotional support, which is the “cherry on top” that the NHS realistically cannot provide.
I came to the conclusion that I would not be able to provide the care that I wanted to whilst being a midwife. I decided to step away: take my degree, training, skills, experience and knowledge and bring them directly to women and families in my community without registering as a Midwife. It was an incredibly hard decision, but I have never doubted that it has been the right one for me. I truly believe that I have the best job in the world, being able to support my clients to achieve the best possible start to their journey as a new family.
